Good vs. Evil Continues in the World of Lego Video GamesFebruary 6, 2012 at 12:47 pm by Ted MininniTo tie in with our superhero focus for February 2012, I thought I’d post about Lego’s new video games featuring characters from the DC Universe. Clearly Lego understands the power of superheroes. They’re hotter than ever and loved by generations of fans. The universal theme of the good guys winning the day and triumphing over the bad guys never gets old as witnessed by the success of one superhero blockbuster movie after another. So Lego asks: why not build on the success of its Lego Batman video game which debuted in 2008 with a new Batman 2 version? The first game sales of a cool 11 million units are likely to be topped by the latest version. Lego, Warner Interactive Entertainment and game developer Travellers Tales have announced the summer 2012 release for the new game titled: “Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes”, which will be available on the hottest video game platforms, including Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. This move complements Lego’s recent launch of its DC Heroes toy line. “Lego Batman 2” will feature Batman and Robin along with other hot DC superheroes: Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. In the game, our favorite heroes will be pitted against Lex Luthor and The Joker. By bringing entertainment brands together in strong licensing agreements and making them constantly available in multiple formats: from actual toys to movies, video games, comic books and cartoons, kids can engage with them in any manner and any time of their choosing. This reinforces and builds great equity in brands that already show strength. Kudos to Lego!
